It belonged to the mans great grandfather and was given as a gift to my father for his kindness.It is a Fude, a bamboo calligraphy brush in its own beautifully crafted case with a built in ink well, and it has a hole in the body so it can be worn around the neck.  I have shown this item to visiting calligraphy masters from Japan and they were very suprised that I had it in my posession, saying that it was very rare and  should be kept in a very safe place.
