Description
Print 0 46 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4   Historic Antique Forte Piano 1854 Emerich (Beci) Betsy Grand Flügel   7' 7" (240cm)   Rare Palisander Veneer case in wonderful condition. Ornamented with brass and mother of pearl inlays.   The Emerich Betsy Forte Piano Fabrik was founded in Budapest, Hungary, and later moved to Vienna, Austria, in the mid 1800's.   The piano was originally built for Karl Czerny, the pianist/composer and last known pupil of Ludwig van Beethoven. It was dedicated to him in 1854. The fallboard inscription reads, “In dedication from Emerich Betsy in Wien 1854  München ",  in brass and mother-of-pearl inlay.   Upon Czerny’s death in 1857, the instrument was auctioned and later purchased by the Moratti family in Sale, Italy. Vittorino Moratti was a well know voice teacher and assistant to the world renowned voice teacher, Giovanni Battista Lamperti.   The piano was presented to me by the Morratti family while I resided in Germany.  It has been carefully restored by Marcus Nisters, Print 0 46 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Print 0 46 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Marcus Nisters Klivier- und Cembalobaumeister Konzertstimmer, in Essen,Germany, in 1998/99.   * hand hammered 2 sided string pins * new strings built to spec with leather dampeners * pin block, sounding board, action and hammers are original and in excellent condition. (leather hammer boots missing) * case has been cleaned and waxed “only”interior wood is solid blonde maple.   The tone of this piano is really remarkable as it is tuned lower than 440 (~437), as was the intended pitch for instruments of that time.   The piano was shipped from Germany to St. Petersburg, Florida, 9 years ago, and has remained in a constant average temperature of 76 to 78 degrees fahrenheit and 50% humidity.Buyer is responsible for all shipping fees.
