With conditions as they are within many areas of the world there is a heightened awareness to looting ,smuggling  and a viable underground of black market sales has greatly increased. This of course parallels historically as a result of wars. This with much political instability and corruption in various governments.  Possession of such an artifact demands an open and public report.  As the site operator, I represent the owner of this piece of history. That need to be  understood. Through a mutual acquaintance, that provides executive security for the owner, I became a good friend of the owner of this item, over the past year. Having mutual interest in similiar things,it was only after a year of knowing the owner that he felt some comfort, enough so, to be the first person who came to know of his ownership of such a unique piece of history. It was apparently due to my continual efforts to "evangelize" the owner, to come to know Jesus. He apparently thought it unusual that the name of NEBUCHADNEZZAR, (former) King of Babylon was so intimately spoken of.  This being the first time anyone had mentioned this name in close to the 3 decades he had owned a part of this former Kings life. From a personal perspective, a Christian, now going on a decade. I find, regardless the number of times I read, or listen to readings of both the Old and New Testament, having all the characteristics of what we call a book. It's construction as a book ends there to any comparison.  Not only does it give the History of mankind from its begining, it provides the future that is given in the Word of God through Prophecy. One of the Books of the Old Testament, is the Book of Daniel. More so than any other book in the Old Testament, revealed very specific prophecies concerning the future,  so specific that those who believed that prophecy of future was impossible have been forced to try to put the record of Daniel after the event. However, even a second-century Daniel could not explain some prophecies, which are yet to be fulfilled. An outstanding illustration of detailed prophecy is Daniel 11:1-35, containing over 100 specific prophecies, all of which have been fulfilled. The involvement of Nebuchadnezzar, in history is greatly given to the reader in this Book of Daniel. Given the Word of God as it is given to us in these Sacred Texts. It is difficult to relate to such an experience.  When one considers this man's involvement as is given in the Bible and the Mighty Hand of God on his life, to have been this close to such a significant part of History  and the One on one event(s) involving objective unbiased record of a non-believer in Almighty God is simply too difficult to describe;  as I actually held this old piece of clay, with  Nebuchadnezzar's dictated words, and engraved by a Royal Scribe.  It was at that moment that I felt a loss that existed in having such a treasure locked in a bank vault, with no other eyes to see it.  The owner had purchased it in the early 1980's, for the purpose of adding to his portfolio and retirement.  I feel it was the "bugging" of the man that he had it long enough. It was time to let others see it and appreciate its pristine condition after almost 3,000 years of travel in time. My bugging the owner then became perhaps one of the biggest efforts I could have gotten involved in when  he said, "OK, so you can stop bugging me, sell it, if you suggest selling it on EBAY Aution, start here, with open bid."   I don't want to think of the hours spent on the internet learning about the significance of this piece of clay (to stone). Aside from the fact that such pieces by all rights should be checked with available records of items that have been stolen and listings available to public domain. I was extremely pleased to get a significant reduction in study when it was verified that this piece was with a translation, and had been photographed in a research journal going back to 1911. The previous owner had purchased it from a rare book store in the 1950's.  The store still there was at the time the biggest dealer of such "rare writings" in California if not the Country at the time. With  multiple pieces of documentation going back to then.  And beyond. This clay barrel-cylinder that is 2 1/4 X 3 1/4 X 8 1/4 " is from the circa 605-562 B.C. The cylinder was recovered from the ruins of temple of Shamash, in Siuppar, Babylonia. The owner provides the translation given to him with his purchase.  The topic of interest being addressed in the prev ious mentioned research journal deal with the Ancient Cuneiform Writing. The predominate writing material used in the ancient Near East was clay, formed into small tablets and impressed with wedge-shaped symbols called cuneiform writing, and then baked in an oven or dried in the sun. Cuneiform is the earliest-known system of writing. It was invented in Sumer around 3,000 B.C. The name cuneiform comes from Latin word "cuneus," meaning wedge.  The ancient Sumerians introduced their word system throughout the Near East. Cuneiform was so diverse and diverse and adaptable to various languages that it spread quickly and survived up until the first century B.C. Over the history of possession, the art/science of translation of Cuneiform has become more sophisticated. Although a translation exists; it has been opined that the complete content of this Royal Proclamation, may not be complete. It has been difficult to put this up for sale not knowing what other words may be there, such that could be significant to double its value. These decrees were placed within portions of new construction. A old "Time capsule", giving future rulers that to which they should know. Often to them alone. Is there such amongst this writing?
