This large scale secretary was probably made in Baltimore, and relates to the John Needles school. Needles worked in this period and used the stylized, turned feet exhibited here on this piece. Of interest is the more traditional Hepplewhite style of upper case with geometric door moldings, all of which is integrated into a more Classically styled lower case with its reeded columns.
